Barack Obama And The Racism Of His Critics
Let me ask you something? Did that title stir some strong emotions in you? Did it make you angry? Did it make you shake your head in disbelief? Or maybe it make you want to read this to confirm your suspicions that the criticism of Barack Obama is based in racism.
Let me assure you, this is not a column to confirm the racism of Obama's critics. It is quite the opposite. I titled the column the way I did to try and invoke in you the feelings I used to get when I was accused of racism because I criticize Obama heavily. It all came to a head for me this morning when I received a comment on another site asking me to wear my white robe and hood next time I go to DC. ( I was one of the protesters in DC on Saturday).
Every time I have had that accusation thrown at me it has made me really angry. First of all, since I don't post a picture, how do you know I'm not African American myself? (I'm not). Second, if you knew ANYTHING about my background and how and where I was raised you would realize that I'm not racist. I'm not bigoted in any way. I don't care what color Barack Obama's skin is. His irresponsibility and lack of leadership knows no color. White, black, brown, plaid or whatever, it doesn't matter, he is the worst President I have seen in my lifetime.
So after I cooled down I decided to try to understand where the racism accusations were coming from. What are we saying? What are we doing? What are we implying? There HAS to be something that would prompt Maureen Down, Keith Olbermann, Geanine Garafalo, etc to be so bold.
You know what I came up with?
They got nothing.
All they have is the race card and who can blame them? The race card is very effective as it stirs up very strong emotions and almost no one wants to be called a racist. They know our criticism is legitimate. They know that Obama is imploding right before their eyes. The man that was supposed to unite America can't even unite his own party. He has continued far too many of Bush's policies, the policies he criticized on the campaign stump for their liking and they don't think he is doing enough to stand up to the GOP.
The race card won't upset me anymore. To me, it just shows desperation and proves I am right. 69,498,215 people just plain made the wrong choice. McCain wouldn't have been much better, but I don't think he would have been the train wreck we are witnessing now.
Go ahead, pull the race card. It just proves you got nothing.

You are very welcome! I trust you read the opinion at the link I left above. I found it, shall I say, "reasonable".

Democrats pulling the race card to fix whatever ails them is akin to playing a poker with a guy with a bunch 2s shoved up his sleeve. It works once. Maybe.
If speaking the truth somehow makes me a racist, then I guess I am a racist. I don't care much for dictionaries anyhow, they're only useful when they define the truth. When they make political points, they are an inaccurate reflection of the truth and therefore unreliable and and lack value in being a tool to establish what words mean.
