Barack Obama 'Chimp' Photo: Marilyn Davenport Emails 'Ape' Pic
Marilyn Davenport Emailed a Photo That Portrayed US President Barack Obama as a Chimp. She Doesn't See What the Big Deal Is. Here is the Barack Obama 'Chimp' Photo. Decide For Yourself
You know how you know someone who sends you idiotic emails and jokes and you wish they would just quit it. Meet Marilyn Davenport, California politician and noted e-mail humorist.
Marilyn Davenport, who sits on California's 72nd Assembly District, admitted to sending a joke e-mail that portrayed US President Barack Obama as a chimp. The Barack Obama chimp photo shows a family portrait with the heads of chimps cropped onto the parents' heads and the face of Barack Obama photoshopped onto the young child. The caption reads: "Now you know why no birth certificate." Get it?
Marilyn Davenport admitted emailing the Barack Obama chimp joke and didn't seem to see what the big deal was. She came up with a treasure trove of excuses: the photo had nothing to do with race; the whole thing is cool because she has black friends; and she only sent the email to friends who she knew wouldn't be offended by it, which of course means that she knew that the image would be offensive to some.
This is hardly the first time the Obama family has been the subject of offensive photos. In 2009, an ape-like photo of Michelle Obama popped up online and actually became the first search result for 'Michelle Obama' on Google Image search.
