NP Rank:
Barack Obama, I Have a Dream… but NOT of You
In order to explain his silence regarding the current Israeli ‘butchering’ of Palestinians in Gaza, Mr. Obama stated that there is only one president at a time. Apparently, he forgot the existence of George W. Bush when he condemned the Mumbai attacks. And, just as well, he forgot the existence of Bush when he held regular press conferences addressing the nation's economy. Has he just found out that the United States actually had a president?
I quote Obama’s letter to the US Ambassador to the UN:
Dear Ambassador Khalilzad,
I understand that today the UN Security Council met regarding the situation in Gaza, and that a resolution or statement could be forthcoming from the Council in short order.
I urge you to ensure that the Security Council issue no statement and pass no resolution on this matter that does not fully condemn the rocket assault Hamas has been conducting on civilians in southern Israel...
All of us are concerned about the impact of closed border crossings on Palestinian families. However, we have to understand why Israel is forced to do this... Israel has the right to respond while seeking to minimize any impact on civilians.
The Security Council should clearly and unequivocally condemn the rocket attacks... If it cannot bring itself to make these common sense points, I urge you to ensure that it does not speak at all.
Sincerely,
Barack Obama
United States Senator

So, at least, the man somehow mentioned Gaza. But why exactly? I’ll tell you why. To “fully condemn the rocket assault Hamas has been conducting on civilians in southern Israel.”
It would be my pleasure to remind all those who were in favor of Barack Obama how I explained to them that the White House was only white in color. A good man never reigns in the White House… and IF he did, he gets assassinated. I don’t think anyone would like to get assassinated like Abraham Lincoln. Besides, a US President was never meant to be ‘nice’ to the Middle East or Muslims.
On the day of Obama’s victory, I heard many people—including a good number of Arabs and Muslims—compare him to great African-Americans like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Many people had dreams in a man who never looked like a Zorro to me. Their only justifications—which they dramatically stood up for—were that he was the first black American to become the president of the United States and that his ‘father’ was a Muslim named ‘Hussein’ Obama. I thought Hosni Mubarak was a Muslim himself and had BOTH: a Muslim father AND a Muslim mother. And I even thought that, as well, Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) had a Muslim father named Ridha. What makes Obama better than Mubarak and Abbas? What makes many Arabs and Muslims hail him as a national hero when plenty of them don’t even know—or ‘approve’—of their own national heroes?
Many Arabs and Muslims are busy watching “FRIENDS” and “Desperate Housewives” instead of reading about great Arab and Muslim figures like Omar Mukhtar and Yusuf Al-Azmah. Many Arabs and Muslims are busy buying labeled shoes and purses instead of buying BOOKS. The serious Arabs and Muslims are busy allowing schooling to interfere with their education. Many Arabs and Muslims are too busy to watch the news and figure out the world themselves, so Uncle Sam filled up their brains and hearts with his OWN analysis of the world. Many Arabs and Muslims are obliged to buy whatever Uncle Sam sells them. Uncle Sam is so trendy and smart and can lead people to achieve the ‘American dream’… but… does it really exist?
It was Uncle Sam who told Arabs that Hamas and Hezbollah were terrorists, Islam was not ‘the fashion’, Shiites were horrible, the Arabic language was not cool at all, Arabs were losers… and a list of other ‘lies’. And so it was Uncle Sam who told Arabs and Muslims that Barack Obama is their promised Zorro who will save their lands from occupation and their reputation from the slayer’s knife.
Imad Mughniyah, who was supposed to be the Che Guevara of the Arab World, was transformed by dear Uncle Sam into a bloody terrorist… and many Arabs AND Muslims bought that and actually stood up for it.
Uncle Sam succeeded at convincing many of us, Arabs and Muslims, that we have no heroes, no history and no culture to be proud of. A 200-year-old nation made many of us forget that our nation is more than 2000 years old. He made many of us forget that Jesus was an Arab. He made many of us forget that Jerusalem and Damascus were two of the most ancient cities on the planet. Now all the praise goes to cities like New York City and Los Angeles, to men like Barack Obama and to women like Paris Hilton.
Alas! Alas! Some Arabs would starve if they didn’t, at least, start their day with a huge Starbucks cup of coffee. ALAS! It’s Arabs who fuel Israel to kill Palestinian babies. Why? Say Hamas was bad. Can a baby be ‘Hamas’? Are Israeli soldiers—according to George Shoe Bush—killing babies to defend themselves? Can the babies of Gaza be so extremely dangerous? But, believe me, if any of these babies could speak, he/she would say, “Kill me. I won’t hand you my land.”
When did Napoleon’s star start to fall?
In 1812, Napoleon invaded Russia. The Russians knew they couldn’t win any kind of battle against Napoleon’s legendary army, so the Muscovites started a tremendous fire and burnt the city of Moscow. Napoleon and his army found no food and no supplies. As they walked deeper into Moscow, they found themselves surrounded by fire and smoke. Most of Napoleon’s men died because of the freezing weather, because of hunger and because of illness. Why do you think the Muscovites did that? Because they didn’t want Napoleon to occupy their lands. As long as you own the land, you can always rebuild it. As long as you have your dignity, you exist… whether dead or alive.
Why did Yusuf Al-Azmah and his poor troops fight a very unequal battle against General Gouraud’s French Army when he knew he and his soldiers were losing? He wanted to make it clear that Syria existed as an independent country and a land owned only by its people. He and his men refused to give in and hand their pride, their nation and their dignity to the French without a fight. Yusuf Al-Azmah preferred dying with his dignity to living without it. He preferred dying a lion to living a rat. Life can be so sweet and death is definitely so scary… but what can one do with a rat’s life?
Yusuf Al-Azmah was the first and only Arab Minister of War to die defending his country. You think any of our current Arab ministers would do anything like that? Haha.
Throughout my short life, I lost a fine number of friends for stating that I was a supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah… without even turning the words into effective actions. And, you know what? It never bothered me. I admit, I was hurt badly but, in fact, it made me feel like a rebellious hero. “You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
Without people like Hassan Nasrallah, Ismail Haniyeh and many others, our race would end up the way the Red Indian race ended up…
This is the twenty-first century… good guys and heroes are usually grouped with terrorists.
I’d pay all my friends and loved ones to buy victory… the victory of Palestine… the victory of Islam. I have a dream… of a free Palestine.

Absolutely Amazing.
I Am Swollen with Pride Anan , Bless you. i 've to say how astounded i am, I thought it’s just a link you are sharing as usual, and I haven’t noticed its Urs! , I was going through it, and was like “Hmmm , interesting.. I wonder who this guy is ? “ I don’t know why I assumed it’s a guy! but Anyways, when I was reaching an end with it , your name just popped in and I was grinning like a silly OMG ANAN its YOU lol Despite that we all share the same Sadness and despair, you managed NOT to get caught in the shameful “ So , What can we do ? “ attitude most of us are adopting . You have a courageous pen, and beyond doubt, a brave soul. You see ,when most pens and tongues have choked up, yours have managed to Talk and Express. You are an unfinished project of a “Writer” (a brilliant one) Finish it! And keep maintaining it ;-) Ps: At such times, when there’s an absence of speech/sounds of justice and muteness of real & right sense , we need sharp pens as yours to “Talk”. Thank you ! Passionately , Hajarat 01:38 on January 9th, 2009

The Article is great.. I almost agree on everything in it except one thing about your heros Anan (I will tell you later about it)
We need people with great faith to get Palestine back... Palestine has been taken in 100's of year and it will not be back in a month.. Wake UP!!!.. we have to think about the future.. Help Gazza's people now.. but plz, we need people to think about the next 100 years.. When we have a plan for these 100 years, we may get Palestine back
Read about Muslim's heroes.. not just to say that we had heroes in our future.. Rather, talk about them to follow them.. To have a motivate to be a hero.. Nothing is Impossible unless you want it to be impossible

Interesting.
Anyone who thinks Obama will make major changes in policy toward Hamas is going to be dissapointed.

What 'race' are you referring to?

Sweet Anan,
Amazing blog, I love how you ended it by saying that without hamas and HizbAllah we would end up like the indian nation.
and i totally agree that arabs are being brainwashed by their own enemies, which is even worse that America being brainwashed by their own government.
Hamas and HizbAllah are far from being terrorist groups... they are brave heros and i stand for them, too .
And the west has succeeded in starting a "fitnah" among arabs ......
God save the people of Gaza and Palestine

mashallla Anan, that`s amazing.... I reallly like to read your articles because you`re an open-minded person who understands the reality of the war in the world. It hurts how people -even from Palestine itself- hate Hamas or consider them as enemies !
May God bless you... you encourged me to read more about our brave heros ... wish you the best of luck dear
