NP Rank:
Barack Obama was NOT wearing a "turbine"!
by Lee Dunkelberg
Monday, when I wrote about the picture reportedly leaked by the Hillary Clinton campaign that showed Barack Obama in a turban, I explained that the picture was Obama in tribal clothes as part of an official visit.
The picture to the left is not the one in question; I cannot afford the rights AP would charge. It is me in my shesh from Morocco. The shesh is a form of turban.
Then, I wrote the following:
Of course, that has nothing to do with why the photo is so popular with Obama’s opponents. There, in living color, is Barack HUSSEIN Obama with one of them thar Muzelum hats on. You know, a turbine! It proves that B. HUSSEIN O. is another one of them thar radical Muzelums (who, in his own cunning way, practices Christianity) out to make us kowtow to Isalum. Don’t it? Surely!
Yesterday, when I wrote a follow-up on the piece, I wrote the following:
Now we all know why the photo is such a hit to the right-wing nutcakes out there.
“Gosh, Clarajay, there’s Obama wearing one of them Muzalem turbines! He must be a terrorist!”
I thought it to be a bit of a joke and a playful bit of dialogue.
Since that time, many of the hits to the What's driving you crazy? blog here have come from the following search words:
"obama wearing a turbine"
Gentle reader, if you are one of those brought to these words by such a search, I offer below, as a public service, the definitions of "turbine" and "turban".
Turbine:
A device in which a stream of water or gas turns a bladed wheel, converting the kinetic energy of the fluid flow into mechanical energy available from the turbine shaft. The earliest turbines were water wheels. ...
www.science.org.au/nova/037/037glo.htm
The wind turbines pictured to the right spin and produce electicity as the wind drives the blades (propellors). These particular turbines are located in a wind farm just outside of Sterling City, Texas, in the western part of the Lone Star State. These turbines bring extra to landowners who often do not buy into climate change, but who are more than willing to take the money of those trying offset global warming.
Turban:
The turban (from the Persian , dulband ...) is a headdress consisting of a long scarf-like single piece of cloth wound round the head or an inner hat.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turban
The Afghanistan tribal leaders pictured to the right are wearing turbans on their heads. The U.S. Army officer, Col. R. Stephen Williams, the commander of the 207th Infantry Brigade, is not. I believe he is wearing what is referred to as, I believe) a BDU (battle dress uniform) cap. By the way, he has just handed over the keys to to the 64th tractor distributed as part of Task Force Grizzly's farm implement donation project to support farmers in the local area. Have a nice day.

dunkelberg, great angle and insight. Spell check has bred a generation of cavalier spellers.

Spell Czech is won of the best things to (ok, I'll skip this one) come along since sliced bred.

Brilliant and hilarious. Thank you.
Next headline: Obama supports 'turban power' as viable alternative energy source.
at 15:41 on February 27th, 2008
Yes "turban power" could wind up heading the way as a new energy source.

I appreciate the public service. It superimposes, in a surreal kind of way, two main global agendas of climate change and the Middle East. Now, if you have time, maybe you could also get people to stop ordering expresso! (ahem... it's espresso)

Thanks.
I already tried fighing the expresso/espresso battle in another arena.
I have since switched to tea.

Ha, nice. I like your lose interpretation of the issue.

Thanks!
Got to stay "loose" in this uptight world. Well, psychologically speaking. I would not want to apply that principles to everything, especially physical.

Great stuff Now I know the proper spelling of turban and espresso. I believe expresso is the HOV lane I get into on my drive to downtown Houston on the Gulf Freeway.
Very witty piece of prose in between. We always need a bit of humour with all the name calling that is going on with this presidential race for the Kingdom to see who gets to hold the keys in the end.
Now if I could just figure out what 2+3=??

If Hillary gets to be President, will it be a Queendon, and she a Presidentess?
at 17:10 on February 27th, 2008
Well, if Bush didn't have to tack a diminutive onto the end of President no one else should have to. She would be ma'am, as opposed to mum.
As for Queendom, someone help me here, but doesn't HRH Liz 2.0 reign over the United Kingdom? I guess until she can get someone to change it for her, Hillary (and this may be hard for her to take) will have to wait.
As it stands, she may be a lady in waiting for at least another four years.
(welcome back)

Houston traffic? <shudder>
Thanks.
Yes, this is a key race.
I leave now.
Hey, my math problem is 7+3
I am seeing a pattern here...possible conspiracy.
