On Thursday afternoon the multitudes spoke, DNC Chair Howard Dean, Vice-President elect Joe Biden, Missionary Superman Tim Kaine, Lobos Gov. Bill Richardson and the forty-fifth Vice-President of the United States Al Gore but there was only 1 speech on this evening. Future President of the United States Barack Obama delivered a stunning address to the over 75'000 that crammed INVESCO Field at Mile High.

Yes we can!!! Yes we can!!! Yes we can!!!

A sea of humanity, a wave of hope, not enough air to go around.

The speech:

Obama first stated his acceptance, which came "with profound gratitude and great humility"

Then there was the thank you’s, the first of which was reserved for Sen. Hillary Clinton, the second for Bill, Teddy and VP Joe Biden followed before the floodgates opened to greatfullness.

Obama was strong with out being defiant.

"We are better than these last 8 years" "We are a better country than this"

With a glint in his eye Obama produced the night’s bumper sticker statement "Eight is enough" in reference to what Democrats must stand up and say on election day, November 4th.

The Barackstar paused briefly during his speech looked directly into the camera, something this reporter was desperately hoping for and commenced a full out assault on the Bush administration.

"They call it the Ownership society , but what it really means is that you’re on your own"

"Out of work?" "Tough luck you’re on your own"

"No health care?" "The market will fix it" "You’re on your own"

"Born in poverty?" "Pull up your boot-straps -- even if you don’t have boots" "You are on your own"

He came, he saw, he conquered

As Senator Obama’s speech approached it’s climax there was one last piece of unfinished business between me and the candidate. Earlier in the campaign Obama stated several times that he would fix Washington’s broken political structure. As admirable as I found these statements and as much as they appealed directly to my heart, the promise felt too much like empty calories.

The question wasn’t wether the inexperienced Obama could find a way to achieve this preposterous goal but just how gullible the young man of Illinois fame was to think that he could just waltz into Washington, proclaim a new day and take away all the perks the old boys have been working so hard to protect.

Obama for his part delivered an adequate answer that barring the unforeseen has sealed my ballot on election day. Last night during his acceptance speech Obama said he would fight broken politics, not fix broken politics. Finally an achievable goal and a breath of fresh, honest air at oxygen burden mile high.

Nice look at the speech, but needs an opinion label for my GS flag.

Thanks.
