Protests continue to take place throughout Spain. The Spain protests, which started around two weeks ago, have taken place throughout the nation. Recent protests in Barcelona, however, seem to have taken a violent turn.

On May 27, 2011, Barcelona protesters clashed with police at Plaça Catalunya. Regional police used batons and rubber bullets on demonstrators who were sitting on the ground.

Authorities had told the crowd that the plaza had to be cleared out for cleaning, but protesters refused to budge.

Catalonia regional Interior Ministry spokesman Felip Puig said 84 protesters and 37 police were injured in the Barcelona protests.

What? I am from the USA and had absolutely no issue. I also walked around several of the neighborhoods as well as the plaza where the protests were ongoing (alone and with a Brit)and again no issues.

I was just in Barcelona and can assure you that it is totally safe (unless you wish to join the demonstration and get your butt kicked by the police). Go and have fun!

That is sickening, Those police who strike people like that have no place in today's world. God and the universe does not think that is appropriate. If you believe in something and your doing that or defending those actions you had better think again. Just because you have a badge you will not be let off your actions. I would not want to live like those officers they will not have a happy time.
