After eluding authorities for years from Washington state to Indiana, a notorious teenage fugitive called the "barefoot bandit" was arrested Sunday following a high-speed boat chase in the Bahamas, police said.

Police said 19-year-old Colton Harris-Moore was taken into custody without incident following the chase in the waters off Harbour Island. Authorities responded to a reported sighting of Harris-Moore just after 2 a.m ET Sunday, said police commissioner Ellison Greenslade.

For two years he stayed a step ahead of the law - stealing cars, powerboats and even airplanes, police say, while building a reputation as a 21st-century folk hero. On Sunday, Colton Harris-Moore's celebrity became his downfall.

Witnesses on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera recognized the 19-year-old dubbed the "Barefoot Bandit" and called police, who captured him after a high-speed boat chase, Bahamas Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade said at a celebratory news conference in Nassau, the capital.

For 19 this bandit sure did get around.  He will probably write a book, then a screenplay.  We may not have heard the last of this rogue.

He may write a book, screenplay and dialogues, with all the ingredients of sensationalism, sex and how he managed to elude the authorities for years. If he doesn't have flair for writing,he may tell the story to some one who can write and may carry the caption:'The Story of a Barefoot Bandit as told to.......'The book in all probabilities would be a best seller, fetching handsome royalty for the bandit,a source of inspiration to young generation to repeat the story.Like history, real life stories of criminals too are repeated.People do not learn lessons from either.
