Barr and Root [A Personal Reflection]
The Libertarian Party is now the first political party in the United States of America that has resolved their dilemma of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate. The time has come to talk about the life of Bob Barr and Wayne Allyn Root so that the people of the United States of America could get to know them better.
Bob Barr who is the Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate started like most Americans in his time. He became a Democrat, a Republican, before finally becoming a Libertarian. Bob Barr was born in Iowa City, Iowa on the 5th of November 1948 and his parents were members of the US Military. He attended the American School of Lima, Peru, Colegio Franklin Delano [in Peru], and graduated from the American School of Tehran, Iran in 1966.
Bob Barr went to the University of Southern California and became a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon [which he is still a member] and the Young Democrats of America. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California and later completed his studies at George Washington University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Law Degree. He worked for the CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] from 1971 to 1978 until he moved to Georgia to practice law and become active with the Republican Party.
Bob Barr was a US Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia and President of the Southeastern Legal Foundation before going into politics as a House of Representative Member for the Republican Party. Bob Barr was a maverick since he opposed the encroachment of privacy and civil liberties as well as supporting the defence of marriage as being between a man and a woman. Bob Barr was also against abortion since he believes in the right to life from womb to tomb yet he was in favour of people carrying arms for their defence. He also supported the Impeachment of Clinton although he regrets having supported the Patriot Act.
Bob Barr converted to the Libertarian Party in 2006 and became a member of its National Committee in 2008 since the Republican Party had been a party of “more government and more intrusion”. His defining moment was his victory as the Presidential Nominee from the Libertarian Party.
Wayne Allyn Root took a different route in the Libertarian Party. He was born on the 20th of July 1961 in Mount Vernon, New York and was a famous businessman, TV Sports Personality, and Best Selling Author. He is also the founder as well as current chairman of Winning Edge International Inc.
Wayne Allyn Root left the Republican Party for the Libertarian Party since both parties have converted the United States into a society that is eventually bankrupting future generations. Wayne Allyn Root has stated that he wants to govern using Common Sense based on the Founding Fathers of the United States of America with the restoration of fiscal discipline, personal responsibility, rugged individualism, and individual rights and freedoms. Wayne Ally Root has as his political idols Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater but is a believer in the idea of most social issues being determined at the local level.
Wayne Allyn Root was running for the Libertarian Party nomination for President of the United States of America when he lost to Bob Barr. His defeat was sweet since he won the Vice Presidential Nomination by direct vote of the Libertarian Party.
I would like to express my best wishes to Barr/Root and would like to invite them to be personally interviewed so that they could present their platform to the people of America and the world.

AlvarezGalloso, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I sure hope Bob Barr has significantly changed his opinion on abortion and gay marriage or I would not consider him a Libertarian. What about his position on drugs? Is he for legaization? If he isn't in favour of these positions (which are unpopular in the US) then I would not call him a real Libertarian. I would call him a Conservative Republican. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Thanks eastvanray for your comments. I think he has reversed himself on the legalization of drugs.

Alvarez,
I am not an American (I am Canadian) so I hope my question is not simplistic. Does the fact that he is (may be) in favour of legalized drugs but not gay marriage or abortion mean that being pro gay marriage or pro-abortion is less a political liability in America than being pro-drug legalization? Or is this just his personal beliefs? I guess I am sking for your educated opinion as to what is more saleable to mainstream voters. I would think letting gays marry would be more acceptable to most Americans than legalizing drugs. In Canada we legalized gay marriage without much fanfare but even legaizing pot is a touchy subject.

Barr is a Right Libertarian. Very Socially conservative. OTC drugs are more dangious then Marijuanna. Alcohol was involved in nearly 45% of all crimes commited. The bottom line is that those who look for decriminalzation are only looking at the hypocracy of the US in its drug laws. Marijuanna has medical uses where alcohol is good for nothing more than cleaning wounds.

Thanks pollitisite. I would call that a "small c" conservative. More George F. Will than Friedrich von Hayek or Milton Friedman.
