Though this photo is titled "Beijing 2008" it is actually the 1936 Olympic Stadium located in Berlin Germany but purposely misidentified pending the theory that history repeats itself. The photo is from Ace Preston's "THE DEMISE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION" series set (Third Reich Today) Episodes: Berlin Brigade, China: "Thunder from the East"/"Rise of the Dragon"
Exempts from "Berlin Brigade"
"The sportive, knightly battle awakens the best human characteristics. It doesn't separate, but unites the combatants in understanding and respect. It also helps to connect the countries in the spirit of peace. That's why the Olympic Flame should never die." – Adolf Hitler, commenting on the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games
"Three Principles of the People" from The Republic of China was chosen as the best national anthem of the 1936 Berlin Olympic games which was the only event China had any success in.
Germany during the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games dominated by winning the most medals in ALL categories to include 33 Gold, 26 Silver, & 30 Bronze. The United States ranked 2nd. The Republic of China during the 36' games received Zero Gold Medals, Zero Silver Medals, & Zero Bronze Medals for a grand total of 0 medals.
ON THE GREAT JESSE OWENS Once in Berlin, Jesse Owens was able to freely use public transportation and enter bars and other public facilities without the difficulty he faced as a black man in the United States at a time when segregation and discrimination against blacks was the norm in the United States.
On reports that Hitler had deliberately avoided acknowledging his victories refusing to shake his hand, Owens recounted "When I passed the Chancellor he arose, waved his hand at me, and I waved back at him. I think the writers showed bad taste in criticizing the man of the hour in Germany.” He also stated "Hitler didn't snub me—it was FDR who snubbed me. The president didn't even send me a telegram." Hitler did not personally congratulate Owens, in fact he did not congratulate any athlete including the Germans after the first day in accordance with IOC guidelines that he should maintain Olympic neutrality.
ON THE GREATER DR. CARL LUDWIG During the Berlin Olympics 1936 Dr. Carl Ludwig Long, a german olympic athlete, won silver at the 36' Olympics in Berlin after he gave advice to his competitor, Jesse Owens who went on to win the gold for the broad jump known now as the long jump. The long jump on August 4 was Long's first event against Owens . Long set an olympic record during the preliminary round. Owens fouled on his first two jumps needing to clear the third jump in order to advance for the finals in the afternoon. As told by Owens, Long had instructed him to try and jump from a spot several inches behind the line. Long's advise surmised that Owens would be able to safely advance to the next round without risking another foul. On the final jump, Owens jumped with about half a foot of clearance, clearing his third attempt. He went on to win the gold medal. Both athletes posed together for photos and walked away arm-in-arm towards their dressing room.
Long died in a British-controlled military hospital following the Allied invasion of Sicily 10 July 1943.
