Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says that paying higher taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans.
Biden says he and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama want to “take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people.”
Under the Democrats’ economic plan, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.
Biden told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Thursday that, in his words, “it’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

Asking the rich, who have benefitted by tax cuts put onto the middle class, to do their fair share is just sooo wrong.
No, it is not time for the rich to pitch in and help out. It's time for more middle class families to surrender their homes and lives to further enrich the wealthy.

Probably not very good word choice, but we are facing serious problems with health care and infrastructure that the lower income brackets can't pay for.
I think he was trying to soften the blow this message brings to the wealthy.
Paying taxes is Patriotic when that money is used to provide needed services and security for the US. I don't see a problem preventing someone from buying a yacht if it can prevent another person from dying from a curable ailment.
He seems genuine. He puts his foot in his mouth sometimes.
As for the charity maybe he's watching his equity melt away like everyone else.
