Bill Clinton Asked Kendrick Meek To Quit Florida Senate Race
Politico And CNN Reports: Bill Clinton Has Asked Kendrick Meek To Quit Florida Senate Race And Support Independent Governor Charlie Crist
The Senatorial race in Florida has taken an unexpected turn as Bill Clinton apparently asked Democratic candidate for Senator in Florid, Kendrick Meek, last week in Florida. Likely, former President Bill Clinton thought Meek's chances of winning were slim, and asked Meek to quit the race and throw his support behind Governor Charlie Crist according to Politico and CNN.
Bill Clinton's front cross press is seen as a last ditch effort to stop the election of Republican Marco Rubio.
The argument was: ‘You can be a hero here. You can stop him, you can change this race in one swoop,’” said another Democrat familiar with the conversations, who said Clinton had bluntly told Meek that he couldn’t win the race.
Clinton did not dangle a job in front of Meek, who gave up a safe House seat to run for the Senate, but instead made the case that the move would advance the congressman’s future prospects, said a third Democrat familiar with the conversations.
Meek reportedly considered Clinton's request, came close to quitting the race, but ultimately decided to keep his hat in the ring.
Kendrick Meek gave up a safe house seat to run for Senate. Bill Clinton is considered a mentor and has campaigned for Meek on numerous occasions but Meek still sits in 3rd behind Crist and Rubio.

Meek needs to find some meekness here and move on.
