Barack Obama had a tough childhood filled with instability and loneliness. However, that did not stop him from rising to become the most powerful man in the world. His breathtaking achievement presents five important lessons for all children. What he has achieved in his 48 years is simply astounding. . Only one person is currently the Commander in Chief. That man had no fatherly guidance, is of mixed race, and had no family connections to guide him into the world of national politics. That adds up to one simple truth that every American child should be told: “If Barack Obama can become the President of the United States, then whatever dream you may have can happen in your life.”

There is no doubt that

president Barack Obama

has achieved great power and

has achieved much in his lifetime

and he should be an inspiration to

children.However, what is often

overlooked is that Bill O'Reilly in

not just a right wing nut on Fox news,.

Many condemn him just for being on

Fox and many others disagree with him

on other issues but as this shows he is

able to look past ideology on several

issues.

This is a great lesson for children, but I do not necessarily agree that the President of the USA is the most powerful man in the world!

I think you might be on to something there sara star . . . .

He is in one sense.  He controls the world's most powerful military.

Paschen

You may overlook China here. The only thing the US has the most of is Nuclear weapons.

China has the largest Military force and do not forget India here as well as the EU.

1

If you include nuclear weapons the US is far ahead.

Even without them the US has the best equipped forces,

Russia and China would be 2 and 3.

Well Russia and China are doing military excercises together, as evident in the Peace Mission 2009, on July 22-26, 2009. They are part of SCO, as opposed to NATO.

2
Paschen

You may want to read the military reports by NATO and the UN, You be surprised.

According to them the US armed force is one of the worth trained and most undisciplined in combat. Relying solely of high tech.

The problem in combat is that High Tech can not win a war, unless you wipe out every living soul.

Why Vietnam was lost and Korea as well as Iraq and Afghanistan became such disaster.

Interesting piece and the source because it's surprising to hear Bill O'Reilly's opinions.

Yes, it shows he is not one dimensional

Who would be the most powerful man in the world?

O'Reilly has always been like this. The left has smeared him and his own bad temper has betrayed him.

Sometimes I think he is great and sometimes he takes on a demagogue's attitude. He doesn't understand science at all, but his attitude about global warming is practical.

There is some Yoda out there who, unbeknownst to the dominant extraverts of the world, is actually the one whose attitudes and insights will bring about the greatest changes in the next hundred years, but, for the world, the most powerful person, the one strangely hamstrung by the position itself and all its encumbrances, is the most powerful person in the most powerful country.

Come on Roy! I thought Bill Clinton was the most powerful man in the world! The first black president too! LOL!

He is a complicated man, mostly conservative but at times also on a more more moderate or liberal side of an issue.

158: I agree! I grew up not far from where O'reily grew up. He's a few years older than I but his demeanor reminds me of many kids that I grew up with in Queens NYC.  He's got that kind of New York/Irish American/kid from a working class family demeanor that doesn't take nothin' from nobody. I'd be willing to bet  that he got in quite a few fights when he was a kid. I've listened to O'reily throughout the years as well as many other national talk show hosts such as Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. In my opinion, O'reily is not nearly as right wing/conservative as the other "right wing" radio hosts and TV commentators are. O'reily can be quite abrasive at times and he can get angry. I think that this might have something to do with people's belief that he's more right wing than he really is.

Thanks for the insight on O'Reilly. It puts this into a better perspective.

I agree his temper at times makes him seem more extreme.

Well, I do agree with Sara here. THe US President is far from being the World most powerful Man, he may think so or wish so, but that would just be an American misconception.

Obama did in deed achieve much in his 48 years of life. However, I can not agree with his Fiscal nor Bail out politics.

We may live to regret going this pass.

Mind you Bush did endorse this form of Bail outs him self and there for Obama can not be blamed for coming up with this bad idea.

Good comment.

I also have doubts about Obama's fiscal policies.

You agree  but you haven't offered an alternative nor any explanation. I really am interested in hearing who the most powerful man or woman in the world would be according to Sara and Paschen.

There are none, at least not in Politics. You have to look behind the scenes and there they care little about Nationalism and more about money and control.

Bill O'Reilly is not incapable of approaching or even touching the truth.  Any germ of truth, seasoned with his style, withers in my garden.  When I look outward for information and inward for inspiration, my world view becomes new.  It is possible that the Big O has become curious, or creative, and his paradigm smells more like flowers than farts.

For your Inner Yoda:  from Douglas Adams, "Hitchikers Guide" musings,

The Ruler of the Universe is a man living in a small shack on a world that can only be reached with a key to an improbability field or use of an Infinite Improbability Drive. He does not want to rule the universe and tries not to whenever possible, and therefore is by far the ideal candidate for the job. He has an odd, solipsistic view of reality: he lives alone with his cat, which he has named 'The Lord' even though he is not certain of its existence. He has a very dim view of the past, and he only believes in what he senses with his eyes and ears (and doesn't seem too certain of that, either): anything else is hearsay, so when executive-types visit to ask him what he thinks about certain matters, such as wars and the like, he tells them how he feels without considering consequences. As part of his refusal to accept that anything is true, or simply as another oddity, "he talked to his table for a week to see how it would react." He does sometimes admit that some things may be more likely than others – e.g. that he might like a glass of whiskey, which the visitors leave for him...

I can make some compelling arguments for the Chairman of China, The Dali Lama, The Pope, The POTUS, or The Antichrist.  I am curious enough to extend the window on nominations indefinately, and creative enough to entertain abstractions, e.g. The Spirit of Greed.  The committee meets in the garden (inclimate weather in the dungeon) at 5PM local solar time, arrive 40 minutes early for burnt offerings and the stirring of distilled spirits, bring your own.

I think it is an erroneous statement to say that President Obama had no "fatherly guidance" .

There were at least two men that helped to shape and influence the President's life, his stepfather, Lolo Soetero and his maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham.

1
158

You are correct in this.

I think the reference was to his biological father.but the stepfather and grandfather were there for him.

Guess O'Reillys statement puts the lefties in their place this time.

Gotta remember he achieved what the majority of the popluation could not!

As for the most powerful? Lets put it this way, how about one of the smartest presidents the US has had.

Barry, the comments of Bill O'Reilly, as he ticks off what can only be understood by the reader as the President having overcome perceivably daunting obstacles in his life, may also be characterized, as we used to say back in the day, as a left handed compliment, a compliment that makes sure to point out negatives as well.

You know, like, " That's a really nice suit, if you don't mind the baggy look of the pants."

1
Rory Cripps

Barry Artiste: Intelligent yes! But smart? I don't know about that. With all the abuse and weight of the world that a nation's leader has heaped upon him (or her), I wonder how smart he or she really is. And I wonder how many former leaders regret that they ever got into politics to begin with. I read somewhere that Einstein wondered, at one time, whether or not he and the world would have been better off had he been a simple watchmaker.
