Black history program considered: Montreal, Quebec
Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Black History, normally the domain of American Schools may finally be reaching Quebec Schools.
Quebec's larger than most Black immigrant population from French speaking African and Haitian countries will give youth insight on Black Canadians contributions in Canada, and though US schools Black History which dwell also on the slave trade in that country in the 19th century, may well be omitted in Montreal as Canada was a country in which Blacks fleeing the slave trade made their way through the underground railway, settling in Canada to make a life for themselves and their future generations. Montreal being one of the more culturally epicentres. But then that is why Montreal is Montreal.
Quebec has also a slew of Kick Ass Canadian Black hockey players who played for the Montreal Canadians for kids to revere, and most Hockey Fans know them as easily as they breath.
Certainly Black history classes one better showcase these guys, well except for the one or two Black players who play (ed) with the Toronto Maple Leafs, cause let's face it "the Leafs Suck Donkey Dink!"
Canada's Governor General The Honourable Michaƫlle Jean was born in Port au Prince, Haiti. Ms. Jean's parents immigrated to Canada with her family in 1968, fleeing the dictatorial regime of the time.
Our Governor Generals past history and accomplishments as our Queen's representative certainly will give students studying Black History a semblance of pride in being Canadian.
In ending, beside beauty and brains, she is outright a total babe, but that is another topic, not politically correct, but damn, ya got to meet her in person before you judge me. I did.
Our Governor General is also the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces, unlike the USA in which the President is their Commander in Chief. Once you meet her, you will clearly see why our Armed Forces would go into battle for her and our country. Try and get that Troop response with G.W Bush!

Black history program considered
The GazettePublished: 6 hours ago
The English Montreal School Board paved the way for the possibility of several new programs in its network including after-school black heritage programs.
But the recommendation adopted by EMSB commissioners on Thursday night is "nowhere near what we asked for," said Rev. Darryl Gray, who is part of a group that has advocated the creation of a black-focus school.

Thanks Jordan for the laugh and the flag., There is a saying we Quebecers have, an abused Child was brought before the courts at XMAS, and the judge needed to find him a foster home fast. Worried about the child being abused again by a family. A Quebecer told the Judge to place the kid with the Toronto Maple Leafs, cause as anyone knows the Leafs can't Beat anyone!

Thanks Criticom, Amy, Luiz and Panzer for your comments and flag. I would individually thank in each comment section, but NP traffic must be horrendously slow as it took One minute and 30 seconds just to get this thank you out! Why you ask? This is what I keep getting when trying to thank people and it prevents me from doing so,
