Black pro-lifers to protest at DNC due to Planned Parenthood Targeting Blacks
Black pro-lifers to protest at DNC
Why would Black Pro-Lifers protest the Democratic National Convention? While 90% of Black Americans vote democratic there is one issue that has effected the Black population since 1974 Row v. Wade descison. Planned Parenthood with an anti-Black history beginning with Margaret Higgins Sanger.
Sanger was an American birth control activist, an advocate of negative eugenics, and the founder of the American Birth Control League (which eventually became Planned Parenthood). Sanger was a progressive force ahead of her time. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)
Planned Parenthood provides a large percentage of these abortions. Albert Milliron of Politisite.com said in 2007, "if Planned Parenthood were not strategically placed in African-American communities, Hispanics would not be the second largest minority group in America. African-American's Political power has been diminished largely by organizations like Planned Parenthood"
Yes he said it! I was there.
Presidential candidate, Dr. Keyes, relates his revulsion about Abortion:
“The number one taker of black life is abortion, and it’s time people woke up to that fact. The location of this latest Planned Parenthood facility in yet another minority neighborhood is a part of the continuing fulfillment of the racist, eugenicist dream of their founder, Margaret Sanger, but it is a travesty of the American dream. Planned Parenthood’s agenda discards the principle that we are all created equal, which is the basis of liberty for all Americans.” - Alan Keyes
Colorado Right to Life and American Right to Life will stand with black leaders from around the country at their Power in the Park rally and press conference on August 25, 2008, 8:30 am at Martin Luther King Park, one block from the largest Planned Parenthood abortuary in the nation.
The killing center, dubbed Auschwitz, by local opponents of the racist organization, is situated in north Denver’s minority neighborhood - consistent with the patterns of targeting minorities noted by Blackgenocide.org.
Speakers include presidential candidate Dr. Alan Keyes with America’s Independent Party, Jessie Lee Peterson, president of BOND, Rev Clenard Childress of Blackgenocide.org, Flip Benham of Operation Rescue National, and Denver’s Bishop Phillip Porter, former chairman of Promise Keepers, who will expose the tragedy that although black women comprise 6% of the population, they receive nearly 40% of the abortions in America. The leading abortion providers exploit blacks by placing 94% of abortuaries in urban neighborhoods with high black populations.
Black leaders, including Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King have recently been asking why black Americans are being targeted by Planned Parenthood for abortions and demanding that the killing stop.

Acceptable genocide? The truth comes out.

This is backwards. Abortion clinics do not create demand for abortions. Women have abortions mostly because they have unprotected sex with someone they do not want children with. The fact that abortion clinics are located in urban minority areas is simply a reflection of the high demand for abortions in those neighbourhoods. If you want black women to stop aborting so many fetuses then try education not politics.

Sure thy do, by providing an easy in, easy out service down the block that keeps parents out of the loop, it send the message, if you get pregnant we have an easy solution for you. Abortion Clinics in poor areas is as bad as pawn shops, check cashing, title loans and others who thrive on the poor. These folks are not companies that uplift a community but cause its downfall.

Abortion clinics do not cause pregnancy. Your agrument is not logical it is emotional. The types of services offered in any particular neighbourhood reflects a decision by a capitalist to invest in a business based on the demand for that particular service. If poor blacks choose to have unprotected sex with people they do not want children with then the result will be abortion clinics. Pawn shops do not target blacks they target people who pawn things - the poor. Abortion is a legal business in the US (a fact not a value judgement). People who open these clinics do so after reviewing local demand to determine where the best place is to locate. It is no different than locating any other business. If all of a sudeen asians girls were having a lot of unwanted pregnancies then I bet you that you would find brand new abortion clinics opening in asian communities.

Planned Parenthood isn't a business really, it's more like a charity. It gets a ton of donations from abortion advocates.
eastvanray, you are absolutely right when you say that "putting an abortion clinic in a black neighborhood doesn't increase demand." Al is absolutely wrong here.
What he should have said is that at any given time there is a demand curve that will have abortions. At $10,000 only one person might have an abortion. But at $50 1,000 will have an abortion. When you put a Planned Parenthood in a poor neighborhood you aren't increasing demand, per se, but you are going to get a lot more abortions because it costs less with Planned Parenthood.
So, when we talk about the fundamental point of "more Planned Parenthoods equals more abortions", Al is abolutely right. This is just how economics works.

Thanks for the economics refresher. I am Canadian where abortions are performed by doctors and paid for by our health care system. That means that in Canada we have an inelastic price demand curve. But it begs the question of the relationship between abortion and abortion clinics. Are you suggesting that women will choose unwanted pregnancy if the cost of an abortion is low enough? Using Canada as an example, with taxpayer-funded abortion, we have an abortion rate about 25% to 30% LOWER than the US. http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/ . I think price may skew the choices between legal abortion and illegally performed abortion. Make the legal option cheaper and you would see an increase in "reported" abortions. That does not necessarily mean total number of abortions have risen just that more are recorded.
I think factors other than cost are at work. Abortion rates are higher in less educated populations and poorer populations. Those two indicators are also indicitive of urban areas. Urban, poor uneducated populations are over-represented by blacks in America. You want to lower abortion rates in black populations then ensure good education and job opportunities - abortion rates will drop.

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff.Though I believe a woman has a right to do what she wants with her body, I also believe if ya can't support and feed em without resorting to welfare, then don't have em. Many fathers of all races think responsible parenting ends with conception. Many Mothers see a big social welfare check the more kids they have. Planned parenthood should be just that, plan to have kids, plan on supporting them yourself and not the taxpayer.

And you are basically right. More Planned Parenthoods does mean there will be more abortions. Technically, it doesn't increase demand, which would be an outward shift of the demand curve, it would be an outward shift of supply. With abortions becoming more readily available and, as a result, cheaper, more abortions occur. So your basic point is correct, disturbing, and not that all surprising.
