Russia and Germany discuss Caucasus crisis. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have held a meeting in the Russian resort city of Sochi on Friday to discuss the current crisis in the Caucasus. The agenda also included the European Security Treaty and the viability of the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE).
Breakaway republics only trust Russian peacekeepers – Medvedev
Russia would welcome an international peacekeeping force in the Georgian breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia - but the people there trust only Russians, said President Medvedev. The Russian leader’s comments were made at a joint media conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
