In a Blackwater shooting update today, a judge has dismissed all chargges against the five Blackwater Worldwide security guards charged in a shooting in Baghdad in 2007.

U.S District Judge Ricardo Urbina said that the Justice Department had overstepped its bounds and had used evidence in the case that they weren't allowed to see. He also called the government's explanations 'contradictory, unbelievable and not credible'.

The security guards were hired in 2007 to guard State Diplomats in Iraq. They were accused of firing on innocent civilians at a busy Iraq intersection.

After the shooting, the guards gave statements to State Department investigators. Prosecutors were not allowed to use those statements in the case.

"used evidence in the case that they weren't allowed to see"

Surely if it's evidence everyone should be able to see it?

It just looks like a complete cover-up and avoidance of justice otherwise.

It doesn't do US credibility abroad any favours at all.
