New York City's richest man is also the city's most powerful as Michael Bloomberg was narrowly re-elected to a third term.

Bloomberg spent a a  stunning $100 million on his re-election campaign, that is about $15,000 per hour. His main rival Democrat William Thompson spent $7 million

Despite all the cash Bloomberg pumped into the election he only won by 5 point, with 49 per cent of New Yorkers voting against him.
