In what could prove to be a high-profile tabloid case, the bodies of two women have been found in an apartment in Birmingham, UK after a weekend party. Police are investigating several lines of inquiry, including a possible connection with a local escort agency. This particlar area of Birmingham is an upscale residential area known for its bars and nightlife.

The women, aged in their early 20s, were discovered in an upmarket apartment in Jupiter Buildings, a modern development of luxury flats in Ryland St, Birmingham city centre, at around 5.40pm on Monday.

Post mortems were being carried out this morning and police officers were examining CCTV footage from the building and surrounding area.

Ryland St, in the Ladywood area of the city, is popular with young office workers and sits close to Birmingham's entertainment areas of Broad St and Brindley Place, which are packed with bars and restaurants.

Locals said there had been a big party over the weekend at the flat that is understood to be at the centre of the police investigation.

Officers are also understood to be quizzing local escort agencies.

The identity of the women is not known and police were due to release more information at a press conference later on Tuesday morning. They said they were in touch with the victims' next of kin.
