Body count starts anew in Mexico after 5,400 slayings in 2008.
Tortured, mutilated, burned, hanged corpes all kinds of crime related slayings closed the year at 5,400. The corpse count begins again in Chihuahua this 2009
Seven other killings had been reported in the state of Chihuahua this year before Monday's grim finding.
Mexico tallied around 5,400 slayings in 2008, more than double the 2,477 reported in 2007, officials said.
Many of those killings occurred in the state of Chihuahua and its largest city, Ciudad Juarez, along the U.S. border. The area is a major killing field as drug cartels battle for turf, and Mexican authorities and the cartels fight each other.

As long as the cartels are able to keep corrupt cops, politicians and others on their payrolls it is apparent that the murder rate can only continue to climb. I am incredibly shocked at the amount of entertainers that have been killed by these lawless animals. It's safer being a rapper in Compton.

Thanks for the recommend and comment. Some of these singers either sang narco-corridos or became friends or enemies of certain gangs. It is well known in Mexico they hire famous entertainers for their events. It's dangerous to be around narcos.

That is a dramatic number of Slayings for a single year and one single country.

It is a war against organized crime, many think it's being lost, but there are also those who think the pressure is so much and the slayings are a result of it, meaning great advances are being made. One thing most everyone agrees on, is the need of non corrupted police officers and politicians. Greed is before values nowadays.

As long as there is demand in the US, there will be cartels making sure there is supply...
