Body found believed to be that of missing Barrie boy Brandon Crisp
Friends and family of Brandon Crisp said their final goodbye this morning during a funeral service at St. Mary's Church in his hometown of Barrie. Grade 10 students wore yellow scarves to represent St. Joseph's school and Brandon's favorite color.
In a statement read, his father said, "Our family believes everything happens for a reason, it's hard to understand the death of a child, but it makes us realize love and life are not to be taken for granted."
Brandon's family has set up a foundation to support underprivileged children to play minor sports they may not otherwise be able to afford. An interim donation account has been set up with the CIBC as the Brandon Crisp Trust Account, Donations can be made at any CIBC branch across Canada.

Update November 8, 2008
Autopsy results comfirm that the body was that of 15 year old Brandon Crisp, and that he died from injuries to the chest area, possibly from a fall from a tree.
A nearly month-long search for a teenage boy who went missing after arguing with his parents over his overuse of the XBox online video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has ended in apparent tragedy. Police do not suspect foul play.
The boy's disappearance reignited an ongoing debate about the emergence of Internet addiction as a possible medical condition. Perhaps more important, the incident also raises crucial questions about how parents negotiate the tricky cross-currents of adolescent emotion without losing control over their children.
"A lot of parents aren't clear what the limits should be," noted Dr. Paul Donahue, a prominent clinical psychologist in the New York area. "When kids don't have a sense of authority, they are going to be more unsettled."
Police have found what they believe is the body of missing Barrie-area boy Brandon Crisp. The body was found on Fifth Line in the north-east area of Barrie.
Investigators say that although they're in the early stages of the investigation, they believe the body to be that of the teen.
"At this point we believe it to be Brandon, and we're still obviously in the early stages of our investigation," Sgt. Dave Goodbrand told The Canadian Press.
"It's not confirmed because nothing's confirmed until we have pathology, but we believe it to be Brandon."
The 15-year-old had been missing since running away from home on Oct. 13 after a fight with his parents over his video gaming habits.
Students at Crisp's school in Barrie were called to an assembly where they learned about the discovery of the teen's body. Students gathered outside St. Joseph's high school -- some in tears, hugging and comforting one another.
A massive search was underway for the teen in Shanty Bay on the Oro Medonte Rail Trail, just outside of Barrie, since his disappearance on Thanksgiving Day.
Last week, a second witness confirmed seeing Crisp on the trail the night he disappeared.
Investigators were analyzing data on his Xbox console for any clues leading to his disappearance.
A blue-checkered jacket, tent, crackers and full bag of chips were found on the trail on Oct. 24 after more than 400 volunteers combed the swamplands and fields throughout the township.
A $50,000 reward by two local businesses was also being offered for the teen's safe return.

Blue Crush, I like this story. It's good stuff. I never heard anything about this boy. I'm sorry it has ended the way it has. I hope they post how he died and who was involved. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, CJ, for the flag. What an unfortunate end for his parents and twin sister. Most people with boys know just how hard it is to keep them away from video games, and it seems that's what the blowup with his parents was about.

This is just a clear case of a kid who wanted something so badly & was being taught a fair lesson. He ran away & under terrible circumstances never made it back home. It's just kids being kids & no one is to blame...
