LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) - Bolivia's leftist president is heading for Libya and Iran to strengthen ties with the two oil powers from Africa and the Middle East. Evo Morales is scheduled to see Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in Libya over the weekend. Then he heads to Iran for talks with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Morales said before leaving Friday that he's looking for investments from the two oil powers. Iran's president has already promised US$1.1 billion in aid for impoverished Bolivia, which is trying to build up its gas industry. Morales has joined fellow socialist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela in building ties with Iran, irking U.S. officials.
