Bolivian Electoral Body confirms recall referendum on August 10

The Bolivian National Electoral Court  confirmed the recall referendum on President, Vice President and Prefects would be held on 10 August 2008. Some doubts on the Referendum date were prompted after few local electoral courts refuse to hold the voting.

CNE confirms electoral schedule and August 10 for the repeal referendum.

La Paz, July 31 (ABI).-  Today,  Jose Luis Exeni, chairman of National Electoral Court (CNE Spanish acronym) assured that  at the meeting with members of departmental electoral courts the current electoral schedule was confirmed as well as  August 10 as the date to be held the repeal referendum.   Exeni issued these statements, this Thursday noon, during a short break from the meeting with eight of nine departmental electoral courts from Bolivia, which is being held at the main building of that institution in La Paz city. Besides, Exeni stated that in the next hours the CNE together departmental courts would set a stance to give a reply to observations done to the Law 3058 of repeal referendum. "As chairman of the National Electoral Court I will present a proposal to departmental courts to take later a joint stance about this issue," Exeni said.
