After much debate and discussion the stalemate between Bollywood film producers, directors, distributors, actors and multiplex owners has not been resolved.

The disagreement is over revenue share, which the producers and actors feel is not fair. They are asking for 50% of box office shares from multiplexes. Whilst, the multiplex operators are not prepared to give this for every film and want a performance based revenue share model introduced.

Famous Bollywood actors and producers Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan have joined the debate in support of the producers, directors and distributors. A major press conference was held in Mumbai, India to discuss this pressing issue.

With Bollywood, the Indian film industry, being one of the largest producers of film in the world, this problem is now going to affect the public too and overall revenues. As no films will be released for multiplex cinemas from April 2009 until the dispute has a solution.
