Bomb attack on train in Pakistan
There is news of another deadly terrorist attack from Pakistan. News is coming that terrorists have targeted a passenger train and initial reports says at least 4 people have been killed.
Authorities say a bomb blast has derailed a train in central Pakistan, killing four people and injuring 15 others. Bashir Qureshi, chief operating officer of Pakistan railways, says Friday's attack took place in Hasilpur in eastern Punjab province. The explosion badly damaged one carriage of the train near the city of Bahawalpur, senior railways official Khalid Amin said. 'A bomb was planted on the track which exploded when the train reached there, leaving four people dead and 15 others wounded,' he told AFP. He says the dead and injured have been taken to a hospital.
Earlier report says that three people have been killed
A bomb attack on a train in Pakistan has killed at least three people, officials say.Fifteen others have been wounded in the explosion which occurred near the city of Bahawalpur, in the eastern province of Punjab.
The bomb, which was kept on the railway track, blew up and derailed the passenger train, they said. The wounded have been taken to hospital.
Pakistan has seen a surge in militant attacks in recent days.
But, correspondents say, Punjab is relatively peaceful and such an attack has taken place in the province after a long time.

Sanjay Jha, thanks for getting this story out so quickly. It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.

I do not understand the logic of these wing nuts. They are mad that we are there, digging out they guys who attacked us, so they attack innocent people in their own country??!!! What a bunch of maroons.

Sanjay Jha, I like this story. It's good stuff. It's about bad stuff but we do need to be aware of it. It always seems like the ordinary citizens suffer when the power monsters fight each other.

Sanjay,
I will try to simplify the problem as I see it, and you tell me what if I am missing anything.
Hasn't India been in a long standing feud with Pakistan? Isn't the primary conflict one that dates back to before Gandhi, which ultimately led to his death? There has been a war between extremist Muslims trying to have religious and political control of India versus Hindus and Christians there, am I correct? And don't most of the extremists spill over from a certain region in Pakistan?
I guess I can assume India will not get involved in the war on terror now that the United States has finally engaged in in certain regions of Pakistan, correct? Pakistan has nuclear arms, and there is a large risk of these extremists attaining the nuclear arms. So there is a possibility of them directing some of it your way if they perceive you as an ally. Correct?
Please, correct me on anything I may have gotten wrong and elaborate for me. I am of course very interested to hear what you have to say on this matter. You can send it to me in a private message if you like.
Thanks!
