There was a powerful bomb blast at Gate number 5 of the Delhi High Court at 10:15 a.m. on September 6, 2011 which killed nine people and injured more than 45.

The bomb blast took place at the gate where lawyers and other staff assemble collect their passes to enter the court premises.

According to the police, the bomb was kept in a brief case which blasted at 10:15 a.m. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospital.

Some of the injured are being treated at a clinic on the court premises itself while others were admitted to the nearby hospitals.

The Indian capital has been put on high alert. The nature of the blast is yet to be known.

This is the second blast at the high court. The last one was a low intensity blast on May 25 and there were no injuries.
