Bomb rips through Pakistan funeral procession, kills 25

At least 25 killed and 13 injured in an explosion after bomb ripped through a funeral procession Friday in a northwestern Pakistan town.

According to reports, the blast occurred during funeral prayer of a person Sher Zaman, shot dead in a target killing incident on Thursday. Several people were attending the funeral prayer when the explosion happened. The injured were shifted to hospital.

A blast has struck at a Shia Imambargah in Dera Ismail Khan. The blast occurred during a funeral service, private television channels report.

At least 12 people are said to have been wounded in the attack on the Kotli Imam Hussein Imambargah. According to Reuters, the blast occurred while the Imambargah was hosting the funeral of a Shia muslim who was gunned down a day earlier in the city.

 

Dera Ismail Khan has in the past often been the site of sectarian attacks which are rare in other parts of Pakistan.
