"Border of Burma or is it Myanmar?"
DEVELOPING STORY.. "Adventures in Southeast Asia" by Ace Preston
On May 26, 2009 U.S. President Barack Obama pressured Burma’s ruling junta into requesting them to release opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi "immediately and unconditionally".
Imagine having to hang out awaiting orders which will never arrive. Another defeat for democracy by Tyranny. How many Singha beers can a man drink in a day? Does one prefer death over mind control?
In this scene the final Ace Preston found himself like the mentors before him, Carlos the Jackal and Che Guevara, isolated and betrayed by allies, as rebel forces shifted loyalties to the ChiComs and Thai government forces have mixed feelings on enemy identification.
As Ace Preston attempted to make a break back towards the Thai border to curve the insurrection, he contemplated the situation on the other side as the infamous "stab in the back" was in effect and figured perhaps it would be wise to cross the river at darkness during the peak of the Burmese New Year celebration dumping sabotage material, mines, listening devices, and psyop material along the way.
Ace Preston knew at that point that his forces had been dispersed earlier across Thailand, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Burma, and Malaysia, fully knowing re-grouping would not be possible at this point.
Ace Preston had been in this situation before in Kosovo, East Timor, Columbia, North Korea, avoiding direct confrontation with the adversaries as American Seals did with the chinese communists at Tien Sa in Da Nang in 1964 (the year of the birth of the prophet).
Ace Preston's secret missions at such places like Muc Nam Quan and Lao Cay Yen Bai near the China border had survived before while operating with less than 12 agents in the enemy's heartland but without his noise-suppressed helicopter carrying Strata Commandos, the Nakhon Phanom Thailand secret airbase, only 45 minutes flight from the insertion site, might as well be the Long Cheng Air Base in Xieng Khouang Province.
Today Ace Preston re-collects Myanmar:
"For 72 hours, on the shores of Rangoon's Lake, I had owned a piece of Burma, and to this day I knew fully well that if I were given the go-ahead, Aung San Suu Kyi would have been free that night.
Nothing could or would have stood in my way to successfully complete that mission except what we encountered - a spineless president.
If the arrogant Aung San Suu Kyi had been extracted from Burma, a lot of innocent lives would have been spared."
Months later Ace Preston was located alive and well in Equador assisting Ecuadorian soldiers in a 12 hour notification in rescuing President Rafael Correa from a hospital where he was trapped by insurgent police officers rebelling in a CIA induced manner similar to the coup created against Hugo Perez, President of Venezuela.
