Washington Post reporter Steven Mufson reveals agreement British Petroleum made in 2004 with Transocean to replace a key part of the blowout preventer with a test valve.
BP reps claimed they did not know about this reconfiguration to the Congressional committee.
BP agreed in 2004 to the installation of a test valve and replacement of another key part on the Deepwater Horizon's blowout preventer, even though it acknowledged that doing so would reduce redundancies and increase risks on the drilling rig.

this only gets worse: the BP man who was on the rig refuses to testify before the hearing, and one of the men on the rig claims that this man had an argument with the Transoceanic drillers about taking out the drilling mud and replacing it with seawater just 11 hours before the explosion.

There is all kinds of fault and blame to go around. Oil is a world spoiler manifest in environmental disaster and war.
