Brandon Beat Club: Manitoba "Fight Club" Shut Down
Canadian police dismantled a "fight club" in Brandon, Manitoba. The "Brandon Beat Club" had been operating for months, organizing fights like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and upload the videos to internet.
Teenagers and young men voluntarily beat up one another in the matches. Police became aware of their activity when a growing number of young men show up in hospital with injuries. A badly injured 19-year-old man admitted to engage in a fight in September 4th.
He said he drank several beers before going into the ring surrounded by some 50 spectators, the report said.
Police charged him Monday with public mischief for initially lying about his injuries.
Because the fighters participated voluntarily, police were expected to file charges under a law from 1881 that deals with bare-knuckle matches that carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $5,000 fine, the Globe said.
Videos on YouTube and their website had been removed.
Obviously someone hasn't been paying attention to the first and second rule of fight club.
