Brazilian Lula visits Caracas (updated II)
Updates: During the visit of Brazilian President to Caracas, twenty-two agreements were signed. Venezuelan Oil Company PDVSA signed agreements with Petrobras to buy/sell gas. Accords were reached to allow military over flights in the Venezuelan Brazilian common frontier. Both countries also agreed on judicial cooperation for prisoner exchanges, environment, local development projects at Santa Elena del Guairen, power supply, iron and aluminium, communication, infrastructure, food security and railways.
Caracas, Venezuela, 27 June 2008. Brazilian President Luis Inázio Lula da Silva arrived today in Caracas for an official visit. He has met President Hugo Chavez at Miraflores government palace in Caracas.
During the visit, both Presidents would improve bilateral relations, analyse regional crisis and promote closer ties. They are expected to discuss world food crisis. Venezuela and Brazil agreed to meet every three months to revise bilateral issues and regional cooperation projects like UNASUR.
After their initial meeting, Presidents of Brazil and Venezuela are expected to sign various cooperation agreements in oil, energy, agruculture, food security and communication.
