A new poll shows that 77 percent of Brazilians disapprove of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's recent comments defending smokers' rights. Smoking inside buildings is restricted in most places in Brazil, but Silva said in an interview two weeks ago that he thought smoking should be allowed «everywhere. The Datafolha institute poll surveyed 2,785 people between Sept. 8 and Sept. 11. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. Sunday's poll came two days after another Datafolha survey showed 64 percent of Brazilians think Silva's administration is excellent or good, the highest level since he took office in 2003.
