Break a leg taken literally Orillia shoot of Bollywood-style flick postponed due to star's injury Posted By COLIN MCKIM, THE PACKET AND TIMES Posted 4 days ago

Simbu, the Tamil heartthrob starring in a Bollywoodstyle movie to be partially filmed in Orillia, injured his leg dancing in another production.

"He has a small fracture," said Jalpa Patel, a spokesperson for Lion Heart Productions of Mississauga.

"He's going to be OK."

But because of the

injury, filming of "Mr. Pooda and Mrs. Poodi" has been postponed until next month, said Patel.

Simbu, a 25-year-old actor, singer and dancer has had a string of bad luck recently.

He had a falling out with his female co-star in another movie and the actress stormed off the set, forcing the film company to find a replacement and reshoot 40 per cent of the production.

In "Mr. Pooda, Mrs Poodi," Simbu will co-star with stunning newcomer Varalakshmi Sarathkuma, daughter of famous Indian actor turned politician Sharat Kumar.

In the movie, Simbu plays a recent immigrant from India who falls in love with a beautiful girl of Indian descent who was born in Canada.

A televised dance competition modelled after "So You Think You Can Dance" figures prominently in the plot.

The sequences to be shot in Orillia will take place in a private home and on a beach with Lake Couchiching as a backdrop, said Patel.

"We're looking for a romantic location."

Casino Rama with its glitter and glitz could also be a backdrop for energetic scenes of dancing, singing and romance, said Patel.

Simbu is very popular with young women and causes a sensation whenever he is recognized by his fans, said Patel.

"He's really, really hot. There's always yelling and screaming."

His first trip to Orillia in the spring was held up when he was mobbed by female fans during a stop at a Tim Hortons on Highway 400 near King City.

Whether the filming in Orillia will attract Simbu's fans in large numbers remains to be seen, said Patel.

The weather will determine how long the crew is in Orillia, but shooting could last as long as 10 days, said Patel.
