The following transpired from the webpages of the Office of the Governor of New York and after watching on my Windows Media Player, the New York Network on the 17th of March 2008 at 1:00PM EST

The webpages of the Office of the Governor of New York removed Spitzers images and replaced them with those of Patterson. There was a Rabbi Schmoze who stated: "It gives me great pleasure the son of a Holocaust Survivor to present the first African American Governor who knows no limits and will take us from the darkness to the light".

A Catholic Monsignor Wallace then gave the prayer followed by the introduction of a speaker to the new Governor's Family. The Oath of Office was administered amongst appaluse. The Chief Judge administering the oath asked the public to refrain from applause until the oath of office is finished.

Governor Patterson wishes everyone a St Patrick's Day, and thanked the Chief Judge, and members of the New York Government. I am hearing his speech of reconciliation upon which I felt a personal tinge, a sense of happiness, and tranquility. It appears that Patterson [my first impression] is a down to earth person compared to the arrogant personality of Spitzer. I also found the new First Family of the State of New York to be like him, down to Earth.

I do not know, I think I like the new Governor and I would like to wish him the best. I also liked how Mr. Patterson said: "We are a Government of Laws not of individuals and we could be proud of our democracy". Governor Patterson talked about how New York has gone through turbuluent times and will continue to do so. Regardless, Governor Patterson talked about the need to get New York get back on their feet.

Governor Patterson addressed the need:

1. To help Single Mothers.

2. To help resolve the problems of Health Care.

3. To resolve the problems of the housing crisis.

Governor Patterson addressed that public office and politicians should be separated and said that "Service Is Important". Governor Patterson challeneged the people in government to put ideology, politics, personal vendettas aside to serve the interests of the people with the word "Service" and "Work Together". Governor Patterson said "I may be of unknown quantity... but we have work to do and we have a budget to pass....".

Governor Patterson commented on the sale of Bear Stearns to J.P. Morgan Chase, and the Federal Reserve as well as an economy "reeling". He challenged the public officials to balance the budget and to uphold the interest of those that elect the public officials. Governor Patterson expressed his confidence in New York and New Yorkers. I cannot deny this but I am feeling something positive. When he talked about being born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Island, and having a home in Harlem, I related because I visited those places. When Governor Patterson talked about overcoming prejudice and disability, it rung a bell. I have seen prejudice and have been on the receiving end of it as well as disability [Angioedema]. This was like the verse from the James Taylor Song: "I've seen fire and I've seen rain".

Governor Patterson talked about cooperation between all New Yorkers and it was an emotional moment for the writer. Governor Patterson said "God Bless New York". I say the same thing and wish the best for New York. Everything finished on the 17th of March 2008 at 1:40PM EST.

Hello Alvarez,

This was a wonderful perspective of the new Governer's inauguration in New York.  He sounds as if he can get the job done, or at least consistently work to get the job done.

Nicely covered and informative.  Thank you.

I also echo the writer's sentiments "G-d bless New York" and extend that wish to all states in America.
