Reporting from Dhaka - A moderate (5.6 on the Richter scale) earthquake recently hit Dhaka (the capital city of Bangladesh) a little more than 3 hours ago (at 12:52 am local time) as
reported by The Daily Star.
I can actually confirm this through first hand experience. A few hours ago I was startled by what, at first, I thought to be someone shaking my chair. I then realized that
everything was shaking. The whole incident lasted less than a minute.
I decided to hastily jot down when this happened on - of all places -
on my Twitter account (the first time Twitter is used to tweet a tremor in real-time?). Confirmation of the tremor from local news sources than come three hours later.
More information as it becomes available.

This is breaking news at time of posting - unfortunately I don't have the user-level to flag it as such...

uncultured, thanks for getting this story out so quickly. It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.
