A trial is begining today which accuses a British teenager of plotting terrorism in the UK. He was arrested two weeks ago after explosive devices were allegedly found in his home.

A teenager will appear in court today accused of intending to commit acts of terrorism and having bombmaking gear at his home.

Andrew Ibrahim was arrested two weeks ago after three controlled explosions were carried out by police near his home.

The 19-year-old, from Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, will face three charges when he appears at City of Westminster magistrates' court in Central London today.

Assistant Chief Cons Jackie Roberts said: "From initial inquiries we are satisfied he was working alone."

Last night Ibrahim's family said in a statement: "As a family we've been deeply distressed. We're still coming to terms with the news and trying to deal with it."
