Britain's Fritzl 'driven by child benefit greed'
The UK has been watching in horror as the details of the so-called "British Fritzl" case have come to light. A man in the UK has been convicted of raping his daughters over a period of 25 years, fathering 9 children with them and making them pregnant 19 times. The case has alarming similarities to the Austiran case of Josef Fritzl, who also kept his daughter as asex slave and fathered children with her. The big difference, however, is that in the Fritzl case he kept the daughter and her children locked in a dungeon. In the UK case, the man, his daughters and his granddaughters apparently lived in the light of day and een had visits from social services workers.
Now even more shocking allegations have been made. The daughters have said that the reason the man did all this was because he wanted the money that extra children would bring in child benefits.
The 56-year-old fathered nine children by the girls in order to support his lifestyle, his relative said. He once offered his younger daughter £500 to have another child in order to boost his income through benefits and tax credits, she said.
"He would always have a roll of £20 notes but everyone knew he had never worked a day in his life," the sister-in-law said.
"He claimed to have a bad back but tended an allotment and built huts in his garden. He obviously thought the bundles of benefits he was getting for the children was worth the risk and was not bothered about any pain it caused them."
The man, who on Tuesday was sentenced to 25 life sentences, has shown no remorse in prison and has even written to his daughters asking them to buy him gifts, she added.
