28th June 2011
Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the United Kingdom showed their appreciation for the Armed Forces last weekend, in events held all over the UK.
Edinburgh had been chosen as the host city for the Armed Forces Day national event with major events also in Birmingham, Buckinghamshire, London, Portsmouth, Plymouth and nearly every town throughout the UK. This years events were the biggest and best celebrations since the annual celebrations began in 2009.
Many more events will be running throughout the year in different locations. SEE HERE
The highlight of the Edinburgh event was the magnificent Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows
The events were designed to do two things. Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.
