Certainly a test case in a city which touts Multiculturalism and Diversity for all which may backfire as some cultures abhor their children attending classes and learning of Gay alternative lifestyles as it is against their religous and cultural beliefs. Especially the Catholic community,

Will this also open up a storm of private schools in which the cirriculm will be more cultural friendly?

If this happens, what will happen to public schools in which their funding is based on enrollment if parents take their kids and enrol them into private schools.

Multicultural and Diversity was implemented to help Canadians understand other cultures and eliminate Racism.  Funny, though, this Multiculturalism and Diversity seems to only work one way, their way, not the Canadian way!

Obviously some cultures only enjoy the benefits of Multicultural and Diversity if it is beneficial to their own culture, but refuse to integrate another's culture, including Canada's and the lifestyle of others.

Certainly Multicultural and Diversity gone wrong, when plain and simple, ethnic vote grabbing Politicians will be on the hot seat in how to get out of this one and appeasing everyone in British Columbia, without losing votes.

My Opinion is this Multiculturalism and Diversity should be scrapped and a new British Columbia policy should be implemented like the rest of Canada called "Everyone is Equal in the eyes of the Law" including Gays who are a minority, no one is special, just different, get used to it.

But apparently this New Policy I suggest may not work because it seems Hypocritical Politicians like the diverse voting public in each of their own Extra Special Ridings, thank you very much.

No skipping gay-friendly classes, schools tell parentsCatholic group says parents must have the right to pull kids out of classesAllison Cross, Vancouver SunPublished: Monday, June 23, 2008

The Vancouver board of education says it plans to enforce a ministry policy that prevents parents from pulling students out of classes that deal with alternative sexuality.

A recent staff recommendation from the Vancouver board of education says parents can pull their children out of sensitive lessons in health classes because of religious or family beliefs, but can't opt their children out of gay-friendly lessons in any other classes.

The recommendation, released Friday, sets out detailed guidelines and procedures the district intends to distribute to schools.
