Cindy E. Harnett and Rob Shaw, Canwest News ServicePublished: Tuesday, June 03, 2008The man whom Highlands Coun. Ken Brotherston stands accused of killing is the same man who allegedly beat up one of the politician's adult sons last summer.
The assault charges were later stayed against Keith William Taylor, whose dead body was delivered by an unidentified person to the West Shore RCMP station on Friday.
The coroner has yet to say how the 33-year-old Taylor -- who had a long criminal history of drug, assault and weapons offences -- died.

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff.
According to Global TV Ken Brotherston's sons were also "well know to police". Kinda strange for people to vote for a politician whos offspring were criminals.

Yeah, the family sounds like real winners, thanks for the comments and GS EastVan.

This is a very interesting and tragic series of events,Ken sr. was a succesful business man and well respected in the community, One can only wonder what really happened that night and in the months leading up to it, as for greg and ken jr, Sure they got into trouble as alot of young people do. I think it was a fight that got out of control and ultimately ended in tragedy. To say that the family "sounds like real winners" is the type of knee jerk reaction that seems so common in the mainstream population. Judge lest not you be judged. P.S. Manslaughter is a more probable outcome.

Yeah, okay, manslaughter. Dont get me wrong, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do, but the law is the law, and as a politician, he knows it.

I grew up with Ken Sr. and am a little sick of hearing what a great guy he is. He is and always has been a hard drinking, brawling thug. Check into the background of that guy and you will find all the answers to this "sudden" behaviour. His father before him and his sons after him. All the same. The Brotherston family is also being touted as "founding" members of the community, having lived in the area for over 60 years. Even in the days of Ken Sr's youth the area was wilderness. They were hillybillies, for heaven's sake. Get real media guys. Do your homework before reporting what a virtuous member of society this criminal is. He's guilty of some pretty bad stuff that he has just never been caught for.
