British father David Cass 'killed his two children and hanged himself'

David Cass, 32, smothered his children, aged 13 months and three years, in his caravan before hanging himself just yards away in the Southampton garage where he worked as an MoT tester.

He had been staying in the 24ft caravan parked outside Paynes Road Car Sales for about two weeks following marital difficulties.

The owner of the garage, John Mayhew, said he believed he was the last person to see him on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Mayhew, 57, said: “He said to me that he was depressed and he said that he was thinking of ending it all. I said, 'Don’t be so stupid.’

“I cannot believe he has done it, he loved those little girls so much.”
