British Foreign Secretary David Miliband telephones Sri Lanka Foreign Minister [ Saturday, 14 February 2009, 05:03.41 AM GMT +05:30 ] British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, yesterday, telephoned Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama to seek an explanation over the government rejecting the appointment of a special envoy to Sri Lanka by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Minister Bogollagama had explained the reasons behind the move, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said terming it as a "unilateral appointment" but added that both countries agreed to maintain close dialogue. The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Thursday rejected the unilateral appointment of a Special Envoy for Sri Lanka by the British government.
