British Foreign Secretary David Miliband telephones Sri Lanka Foreign Minister

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, yesterday, telephoned Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama to seek an explanation over the government rejecting the appointment of a special envoy to Sri Lanka by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Minister Bogollagama had explained the reasons behind the move, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said terming it as a "unilateral appointment" but added that both countries agreed to maintain close dialogue. The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Thursday rejected the unilateral appointment of a Special Envoy for Sri Lanka by the British government.
