Benjamin Smith is the police officer and Brittany's father.

Apparently, Jeffrey Scott Easley lived with Tina Smith and Brittany at the of the assault and murder according to Liz Dyer, the mother of Tina Smith and grandmother to Brittany.

Police have not told us anything,” she said speaking from her Eastover Drive home.

“We know she was beaten, and they’re doing an autopsy,” she said of speaking her late daughter, Tina.

Dyer said she only met Brittany’s suspected abductor, Jeffrey Scott Easley, one time.

But she was quick to add, “We didn’t like what we saw.”

The worried grandmother said she had been unaware Easley was living with her daughter and granddaughter

It is unclear exactly what type of vehicle Jeffrey Scott Easley may be travelling in but police are asking the public to keep a look out for a 2000 Red Chevrolet SUV with Virginia tag XPR-4366. Police say Tina Smith’s vehicle is also missing. Her car is a Silver 2005 Dodge four door Neon with Virginia tag XKF-2365.

Police in Roanoke County are asking for anyone with information to call either the Roanoke County Police at 540-777-8461 or the Virgina State Police at 800-822-4453
