Brockport SUNY Shooting: Gunman In Custody, Two People Injured

A shooting took place at around 1:20 P.M. on the grounds of Brockport College at the State University of New York, SUNY. As the result of the incident, Monroe County Sheriff and a woman were wounded with non-life-threatening injuries. The guman whose identity has not been released is now in custody. It is alleged the suspect was home alone when he started shooting randomly. He fired at least eight shots. The suspect starting shooting at deputy cars when police arrived. The female victim was living in a house across the street from suspect's house.

SUNY Brockport began an abbreviated winter session on Monday and fewer people than normal were on campus today. Most students will return to campus on Jan. 25, 2010.

The campus went into temporary lockdown, which has now been lifted. However, campus events scheduled later in the day were canceled.
