Cornwall floods: 1 dead, 2 missing

Floods in Cornwall, England on Saturday have killed one and swept away a brother and stster.

Police have continued the search for Ryan Martel, 26, and his 17-year-old sister Frankie Chappel.

Fears are growing for a brother and sister missing after the car they were in was swept away during flash floods in Cornwall on Saturday.

A 20-year-old man's body was found hours after the Volvo saloon was submerged in flood water in Zennor, between St Ives and St Just.

Another man, also aged 20, escaped from the car as it filled with water.

The search for Ryan Martel, 26, and his 17-year-old sister Frankie Chappel, who live locally, resumed earlier.

A police spokesman said the family of the missing siblings, who are originally from Guernsey, wished to extend their thanks to the emergency services involved in the search and to members of the public and nearby householders who have helped.

They said their thoughts were with other families affected by the accident.

The search, which was suspended on Saturday night, was resumed about 0900 BST, with coastguards planning to concentrate their search at low tide - at about midday.

So very sad, young people, did not stand a chance. God Bless them and keep them.

Sad, Allah bless their soul. It's akin to dooms day for the family.

At 8 am this is a sad way to start my day but I'm getting used to this. For the second time in 3 days my car was submerged by flooding torrential rain. Like Cornwall, Houston has had almost all its rain within a month although it feels like a week full of rain. Esta had been tracking this bravely but she seems to have missed the last two days. Power outages, hail, and now this week's forecast is 30 mph winds and some showers. Luckily I was in town and not on the country roads as these poor souls were.

Thanks for sharing this, mudricky and Rhonda for the great video.

around here it.s dry.  We need rain desperately just to get things to grow.   The place still looks like late fall.  Sorry to hear about all the power outages in Houston.  I was wondering where Esta was in the last little while.
