Bruno Souza Missing After Arrest Ordered in Eliza Samudio Case

Brazil Soccer Star Bruno Souza is Missing After His Arrest Was Ordered in the Disappearance and Possible Murder of His Ex-Girlfriend Eliza Samudio
After an arrest warrant was issued for Bruno Souza and his friend Luiz Henrique Ferrera Romao, the duo have gone missing and police are now looking for them. They are wanted in connection with the disappearance and possible murder of Souza's 25-year-old ex-girlfriend Eliza Samudio last month.
Yahoo! News reports that on Globo Television in Brazil, shots were broadcast of police cars arriving at Souza's house Wednesday morning but they found no trace of either man.
"Bruno has fled," said Edson Moreira, police chief in Bruno's home city of Belo Horizonte, about 440 km (270 miles) north of Rio.
Bruno's current partner has been taken in to custody. According to Reuters sources, a police source told them that the arrest warrant was issued after Bruno's 17-year-old cousin told them Bruno and Romao had kidnapped Samudio and driven her to Bruno's house.
The Daily Beast reports that Samudio has been missing for over a month and the ex-couple have a baby son together called Bruninho (Little Bruno). Bruno is married to Dayane Souza, but in 2009 he had an affair with the 25-year-old student Eliza who became pregnant.
No body has been found and Bruno has not been questioned in the case before.
In October 2009 Eliza Samudio told Extra in Rio that when she was four months pregnant, Bruno and three of his friends convinced her to get in to a car with them and then gave her the drug Cycotec, which is an abortion drug.
"If I kill you and throw you somewhere, you're not going to be found," she says Bruno told her. She claims Bruno then persuaded her to meet him the next day at an abortion clinic. Instead, she went to the police.
The case was never followed through by police and Samudio gave birth to her son.
Police continue to hunt for Bruno, Romao, and for any signs of Samudio that will help them solve their case.
