In an unprecedented move all the major big wigs of the Uttarakhand administration

joined in the 6 km trek from Rajpur to Jharipani near Mussoorie. The cavalcade was led by the chief secretary Uttarakhand Indu Kumar Pande.He along with  60 other senior bureaucrats consisting of senior secretaries, commissioners, Police officials of Uttarakhand Govt walked their way up to find some peace and mental rejuvenation from the daily hectic chores of governance. The first to reach Jharipani was Utpal Singh secretary Tourism who was immensely pleased with this idea of trek in the wilderness and such trekking trails should be popularized.

The commissioner Umakant Panwar, man behind this idea was extremely happy with the participation and eagerness shown by the senior members of the administration and was sure this was such first trek but not the last in the series.

Secretary Radha Raturi, IG Garhwal Ganapati along with DG Subhash Joshi,IG Intelligence Anil Raturi, SSP Dehradun Amit Sinha to name few extremely glad with this combined trek and said that they were physically tired but mentally rejuvenated on this trail. The wives of many bureaucrats took opportunity to loose their weight on the occasion. The happiest lot in this whole trek was the children of these senior bureaucrats as for them it was a rare occasion to be together.

Jaikumar Gupta the ward member of Jharipani accompanying the chief secretary Indu Pande explained the historic past of this trail and said that the Britishers used this trail frequently in past and they had also planned to get train till Oak Grove School and Mussoorie but which failed due to the loose soil composition. He also informed that the tunnels could still be found in the area which was to be used for trains. Jai Kumar Gupta took this opportunity to raise issue of Jharipani Falls in from of DM Amit Negi who agreed to expedite this matter on priority basis. DM Amit Negi was also happy with this trek and said the officers made good use of this trek by familiarizing with each other.

Speaking exclusively to Garhwal Post he also said that Demand of Art Gallery in Mussoorie was genuine for the artists and he would direct the authorities to have a separate space constructed at the proposed town hall in Mussoorie.

Chief Secretary Indu Pande who reminisced his IAS Trainee days in Mussoorie said that it was similar to trek in those days and he was in favour of walking for good health also. He said that this adventure trail needed beautification and construction of small hut like view points would enhance the beauty of the place. He also said that different ornamental flowers on either side of the road would add to the beauty of the road. Indu Pande was of the view that such trails could be discovered and upgraded in the state and used as tourist destinations which will add value in marketing the state.The accompanying children were trekking on this route for the first time and liked it immensely. SP traffic Nilesh Bharne, SDM Jharna Kamthan, Mahesh Chandra Joshiand others were present on the occasion..
