Burma Democratic Concern (BDC)'s Felicitation Letter on Kachin Revolution Day
5th February 2013
On this historic Kachin Revolution Day, Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) sends our best wishes to all the Kachin people around the world.
On this very significant Kachin Revolution Day, we salute all the Kachin martyrs and Kachin heroes for their bravery and sacrifice for freedom and equality of Kachin and people of Burma.
We welcome recent successful meeting between KNO and Burmese Government and we truly wish that it will pave way to produce positive outcomes leading towards achieving political dialogue and ultimately restoring everlasting peace in Kachinland. We are very encouraged to learn that the two sides pledged to defuse military tensions, open lines of communication, and hold another meeting before the end of February. We are also very encouraged to learn that the two sides agreed to hold a political dialogue and to establish a "monitoring system" that would lead achieving ceasefire and ultimately everlasting peace in Kachinland.
All the people of Burma want peace and we truly believe that peace can be achieved. We all must work together pragmatically to restore everlasting peace in Kachinland. We believe unity in equality, unity in diversity and unity in harmony. We truly believe that to establish a genuine federal union, Burmese Government must grantee to preserve, protect and promote ethnics rights such as language, culture, food, tradition, environment, religion and music etc.
We oppose war and we truly believe that guns and bullets won’t solve the problems but only through genuine dialogue, only through mutual understanding, only trough mutual trust and only through mutual respect will bring peace in Burma.
It is true to say that peace will bring peace and war will bring war. We would like to encourage both sides to work achieving peace by peaceful means so that we will have peace in Kachinland. Real and lasting peace is possible, but only by us creating an environment for peace.
We are very encourage to learn that Kachin leaders and Burmese Government met reasoning together with the aim of achieving peace. Having peace within our own nation will bring prosperity to the people of the whole nation.
On this historic Kachin Revolution Day, let's pledge together to work without wavering achieving peace realities in Kachinland. Let's pledge, again, together to work achieving ever lasting peace, unity in harmony and equality in diversity in Burma.
May peace be upon Kachinland, may peace be upon Kachin people and may peace be upon Burma.
In solidarity,
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC)
