Bush: Pardon Ramos and Compean

Zimbabwe, Cuba, and Venezuela are not the only places where human rights are violated. The United States of America is a place where human rights are violated while freedom and democracy is preached to the world.

The United States of America including Bush talked also about the need to have safe borders and to control immigration yet the laws are broken and bent by the same people who write and approve the laws.

While the Era of Bush II is drawing to a close, there is a tradition of Presidential Pardons. It seems that George W. Bush will continue this tradition but without two people: Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. What is the story behind Mr. Ramos and Compean?

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean are two former US Border Patrol Agents who were doing their work when they spotted Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila crossing the border US Border with Mexico into El Paso illegally.

Mr. Aldrete-Davila was also in possession of controlled substances. Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean told Mr. Aldrete-Davila to halt or they will shoot.

Mr. Aldrete-Davila refused to halt and was shot in the buttocks. He left the contraband and ran beack to Mexico. Mr. Aldrete-Davila filed a lawsuit alleging that his rights were violated. The Federal Government was able to locate Mr. Aldrete-Davila and promised immunity from prosecution if he testified against Ramos and Compean.

Mr. Aldrete-Davila also had the help of a US Attorney whose name is Johnny Sutton. Mr. Sutton was also the target of a lawsuit launched by Christians Reviving America's Values which is based in Kentucky. The reason for the lawsuit was misleading the jury into convicting Ramos and Compean.

He testified and the Federal Courts ruled in favour of an illegal immigrant transporting controlled substances. Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean were sentenced to 15 years in Federal Prison for the crime of doing their job in safeguarding the borders of the United States of America.

The Washington Post and other media within the United States have wanted Bush and other members of the US Government to pardon Ramos and Compean. It appears that Mr. Bush and Washington loves to talk but do nothing. It also appears that they could care less about Ramos and Compean as well as those who work in the US Border Patrol.

If Mr. Bush had a heart and I am doubting that he ever had one, he should do the right thing and pardon Ramos and Compean. If he can pardon drug dealers and bankers of dubious reputation, he could do the same thing with two US Border Agents who were doing their job.

If Mr. Bush does not pardon Ramos and Compean, the best thing that he or any other succesor could do is abolish the US Border Patrol and allow the people of America to control their own borders. The reason is based on that people will not want to work for the Federal Government if they are going to be punished for doing their work.
