"The president will visit during the Thanksgiving season to both talk about this important and ongoing mission and to thank the soldiers and their families for their service and sacrifices," Bohn said.

Bush also plans to present an award to a wounded soldier who has worked to improve the lives of Fort Campbell families.

The post is home to the 101st Airborne Division, which has some units returning after a 15-month deployment in Iraq.

Post spokeswoman Cathy Gramling said thousands of soldiers from three brigades are currently returning. Other brigades are finishing tours in Afghanistan, she said.

There was no estimate on the number of troops who would attend the rally and hear the speech, Gramling said.

"Family members and civilians who work on post are also invited to attend the president's address," she said.

The President's Volunteer Service award will be given to Army Staff Sgt. Josh Forbess, who was injured in 2003 when a Black Hawk helicopter he was in collided with another in Mosul, Iraq.
