Nearly 12,000 arrests have been made in a series of drug raids across the USA.  The arrests were made on people who are connected to Mexico's rapidly expanding and dangerous drug trafficking cartels, La Familia Michoacana.  Los Angelas and Atlanta were the largest American operation hubs.  There was enormous collaboration between many Mexican and American agencies in this massive raid.  The forces were aided by one family member who turned on them and released their identities.  For obvious reasons that name isn't released.
Although La Famillia Michoacana has not been a known drug trafficking family for long they have been known to be very violent with hundreds of kills, some of which were law enforcement officers.

The American arrests were in relation to the major drug busts that occurred in Mexico a few weeks ago where over 37 tonnes of methamphetamine were seized.
